About Flexichase: Charlie Marshall

Flexichase was created in 2022 by amateur jockey Charlie Marshall. Charlie was always obsessed with horses and had a need for speed, so as soon as he was old enough he was doing shetland racing, pony racing, hunting, team chasing, and Point to Pointing. Having grown up in East Sussex, Charlie now lives in Dorset with his partner Hannah, where they train 20 racehorses. Charlie has been a jockey for 10 years, and has had huge success in the saddle, most recently becoming the first British jockey to win the Maryland Hunt Cup timber race in the US! Alongside riding, he has always been very creative at home building hurdles, fences, wings, running rails, and has been heavily involved in the fence building at local Point to Point courses. As their yard at Fishmore Hill Farm has grown each season, Charlie has constantly been upgrading their facilities, which is where the idea for Flexichase was born. Charlie has now sold lots of jumps to licensed NH trainers (Paul Nicholls, Seamus Mullins, Syd Hosie), and Point to Point trainers (Gerri Halliwell Racing, Harry Ryall and more).

About Flexichase: The Jumps

Flexichase aims to produce top-quality adjustable schooling sections, perfect for jumping on grass and all-weather surfaces.

Our current range includes single sided hurdles, double sided hurdles, and chase fences. All of these models can be built to any desired width in multiples of 4ft: 4ft, 8ft, 12ft, 16ft. All of our jumps meet the new racecourse standards with white takeoff boards and packing rails.

All jumps are made from a steel frame. The structure is built from mild steel square hollow bars, and the ends are hot rolled 3mm steel sheets that are cut out on a CNC plasma cutter to give the desired shape that we feel works so well for schooling horses.

The frames consist of a large stable base that also incorporates a method for lifting with pallet forks so the jumps can be moved easily without scuffing ground surfaces. The 4ft sections can be lifted by hand, but do also have the same lifting mechanism.

The jump frames are fitted with 6mm stockboard which is then coated with 25mm of closed cell foam, giving each jump extra padding and protection. The sections are faced with artificial grass and large heavy-duty kickboards and white coloured guard rails that fit with the new BHA specifications.

The plastic birch we add to our jumps has been widely used on showjumping and cross-country courses. Each birch block can be adjusted up to six different heights and is easily locked in with a spring-loaded bolt.

A wheel system can be added to the fences for £500 + VAT. This includes:

  • x2 large flotation wheels for towing

  • x2 swivel wheels for pushing

  • x2 internally fitted jacks to raise and lower at each end

  • x1 drawbar complete with a ball hitch and jockey wheel

One wheel system can be used for all Flexichase jumps and are suitable for use on grass and sand.

To ensure we deliver the best possible jumps for each customer, we can tailor the sections to individual preferences and requirements and we welcome all feedback. We have been taking our jumps to lots of Point to Points this year, so come and meet our team and our products!
